Kyle Bobby Dunn -- Ways of Meaning (Desire Path Recordings)

Kyle Bobby Dunn has carved himself a niche as a master of ambient music, while never failing to move slightly outside of that genre from time to time, experimenting occasionally with both drone and modern classical composition. His latest work, Ways of Meaning, focuses solely on what he does best: gentle, tranquil ambient pieces that do not hurry themselves along, nor do they make demands on one’s ears. For the listener, this methodology produces an overwhelmingly relaxing experience. Turned down low, songs like “Statuit” and “New Pures” will cause the listener to experience pure and utter bliss. The epic track, “Movement for the Completely Fucked,” at fifteen minutes, easily feels much, much longer. Dunn’s greatest ability is to make time expand and lengthen; for summer days in need of cool relief, or for nights of restlessness, his talent is much appreciated. (Desire Path Recordings)
