Norwegian producer Hans-Peter Lindstrom ended his busy 2012 year with Smalhans, an album that saw him shed the downbeat experimentalism of his first album of the year, Six Cups of Rebel. Indeed, for those who have followed Lindstrom’s career, you will find Smalhans something of a return to form, as he explores sounds that are definitely more rhythmic and club-friendly. The songs (all have titles using text that is nearly impossible to reproduce here, sorry) flow together in a really natural way, so much so that you could turn this record on at a party and fool your friends that you are DJing. Lindstrom is busy working on new material, but this is a lovely addition to his large—and largely enjoyable—discography.
