Michael Paul Binz - LET ME BE (Self-Released)

16 March 2026

There’s something disarmingly direct about LET ME BE, the latest release from Michael Paul Binz. Across eight tracks, Binz leans fully into emotional exposure, favoring honesty over polish and instinct over trend-chasing. The result is a record that feels less like a calculated debut and more like a personal document set to music. Drawing from the shadow of Nirvana and the melodic sensibility of The Beatles, Binz builds a sound that sits somewhere between indie rock and reflective folk. Songs like “Brainwaves” and “Chains of Malice” carry a restless energy, while quieter moments such as “Might Be” pull things inward, revealing the album’s core theme of wrestling with attachment and release.

What stands out most is Binz’s songwriting approach. There’s a looseness to the structure that has something of a Dylan rambling quality, but it also gives the music a lived-in feeling. You get the sense these songs weren’t overworked. They arrived as they needed to, shaped by experience rather than formula, and his raw, down-to-earth vocals follow a similar path. The supporting musicians add texture without overshadowing the vision, particularly in the subtle piano work and steady percussion that anchor the record. It all contributes to an album that feels grounded, even when it drifts. LET ME BE may not aim for perfection, but that’s part of its appeal. It’s a snapshot of an artist choosing authenticity, flaws and all.
