I was supposed to write this song up yesterday, being that the song is being released to mark International Right to Truth Day, and the way the world is going, truth, it would seem, is in short supply. But that doesn’t stop you from getting involved, and whatever day you find yourself reading this, know that all proceeds go to the PREDA Home For Girls an organization that offers love, compassion, care, and concern for trafficked, abused, and exploited children.
But the song is not just for a worthy cause; it is a worthy addition to the musical landscape, too, the best of both worlds, and artistic endeavour for altruistic reasons. It is a dream-scape reggae piece that bounces along on skanking grooves and buoyant bass lines – the musical tenets of that genre – but which covers those rhythms with hushed and heavenly vocals.
And, bringing things closer to the cause, the mass voices of the children who have found refuge within the organization are gathered into the musical throng, innocent voices now unified by their numbers speaking truth to power.
Music is made for many reasons, but one of its most vital purposes, especially in the modern age, is to raise awareness, unify people in a common cause, create empathy and bring people together, which is exactly what Ooberfuse is so great at doing. Most bands would be happy to make music this great, this joyous, this infectious, but when that music can change the world, as this does, then there can be no greater acts of artistic creation.
Listen, enjoy, understand, empathize, and please give generously.
