It’s not a new sentiment, but it is certainly a timely one. The world seems increasingly more critical of the individual, especially if they are trying to do their own thing, paint outside the lines, or think outside the box. Bosses criticize, social media ridicules and even friends might call us foolish, but there are some people, and I consider myself in this category, who are happiest, and indeed most productive, when following our own design. Not only does OurGlassZoo understand how we feel, but they have also written a rabble-rousing, flag-waving, storming the barricades anthem for like-minded people.
And this stick to your guns, stick to the plan, and stick it to the man (or indeed, woman) plan of attack they deliver via a vibrant and vital slice of stadium-ready pop-rock…that is, music that is intense and incendiary yet infectious and immediate, the best of both worlds.
“Shut Up” is a simple, uncompromising message, one to be sung by the increasing amount of people who can’t or won’t play by the existing rules…compromise and conformity isn’t an option. There may be safety in numbers, but there is excitement in going it alone.
With their third album, Horizons, about to drop and “Shut Up” coming on the back of a string of critically and commercially well-accepted singles, Our GlassZoo is a name you will be seeing with increasing frequency. You mark my words.
