Outpost Drive - Broken Vein (Treasure Map Records)

2 April 2026

Outpost Drive is perhaps one of the few bands that actually deserve the title, “Transatlantic Americana”, which is as much a description of their music as it is their geographical axis. Following the couple’s wedding, Mary Bragg Robinson found herself swapping the warmth and humidity of Mobile, Alabama for a freezing winter in her husband Willow Robinson’s English homeland. And there is indeed something about “Broken Vein” that feels forged between such extreme climates, such heat and cool, such fire and ice.

Sitting somewhere between acoustic folk and anthemic Americana, bluesy understatement and rock-and-roll energy, this is a dynamic song. One full of urgency and atmosphere, deft interludes and sonic highs, poignancy and poise, wide-screen cinematics with foot on the monitor punch.

Musically, the song effortlessly shifts mood, changes pace, rises, falls, is shouted from the rooftops, is whispered in the ear; when it is big, it is also clever, when it is smart, it is accessible, when it is emotive, it is energetic, when it is powerful, it is full of purpose. Lyrically, it is the sound of two people being cocooned together and finding that such constant proximity just deepens their love for each other.

The best of two worlds, two climates, two minds, two hearts. And as a sonic calling card for their much-anticipated debut album, it is a brilliant taste of what’s to come. And it can’t come soon enough.
