We are all fighting our own battles, often ones that go unseen by those around us, personal demons that need to be defeated daily. And that is the sentiment that lies at the heart of the new one from Ray Ray Star.
“One Step Away” was released to coincide with the Canadian Convention of Narcotics Anonymous, and is an anthem to those who have faced and defeated such issues, but who also understand that it is a battle that they have to engage in every day, every hour, every minute of their life.
As such, “One Step Away” is a song filled with the requisite amount of sonic drama, a grunge-infused rock-and-roll missive whose intensity and dynamics match the roller coaster ride that those trying to stay clean constantly face.
And this is a song borne of first-hand experience, although 16 years sober, he still understand that_“temptation burns like gasoline veins”_ a reminder that this is something that is with you for the rest of your life. But more than that, it is a reminder that it is a battle that can be won, a war that you will win. But, like any war, you will return from it a very different person!
