SICKY builds “Bubblegum Party” around a low guitar pulse and layers brighter hooks over it until the track feels crowded in a strangely catchy way. Mick Butler keeps returning to the same phrases and melodic shapes, letting repetition become part of the song’s personality rather than simply its structure.
That circling quality suits the story. “Bubblegum Party” follows a woman publicly humiliating someone who has tried to control her, turning a birthday celebration into an act of revenge. Even the bubblegum image takes something sweet and childish and gives it a sharper purpose.
The arrangement keeps that contrast alive. The guitar gives the track weight while the brighter vocals and pop details keep shifting around it, making the song feel playful without losing the resentment underneath.
Written, recorded, produced, and mixed by Butler in Shropshire, “Bubblegum Party” introduces SICKY’s fourth album, Redland. The album follows 2025’s Troubled Delight and turns toward friendships lost along the way, with “Bubblegum Party” bringing some mischief into that darker setting.
“Bubblegum Party” is out now independently. Redland arrives November 20.
