You gotta love Spinors, I mean, any band that looks like a bunch of steampunk anarchists and sounds like they have taken all the best bits of the last 50-plus years of rock ‘n’ roll and have turned it all into a sonic weapon with which to demolish the current musical landscape, was got to excite you, surely.
‘You loved the cage’ is foot-on-the-monitor rock beast at its finest, a sound woven out of the smoking remains of what is found at the collision point of 60’s garage bands, 70’s stadium rock, 80’s post-punk and 90’s grunge…it’s hot, it’s heavy, it’s heavenly!
And then throw in a lead break that sounds like Led Zeppelin were formed not from the wreckage of The Yardbirds in late 1960’s London but instead worked their way up from the bazaars of Cairo in the 1660s, and you have a decidedly original and delicious take on rock ‘n’ roll. And if the music links various past sonic strands and reworks them into a rejuvenated rock ‘n’ roll sound, the lyrics are timeless…a story of love, loss, and heartbreak told from the point of view of both protagonists…all stories have two sides, after all.
Kick-arse rock ‘n’ roll that, in part, plunders the past, is perfectly placed to freshen up the present rockscape and proves, without a doubt, that groovy rock ‘n’ roll has a bright future.
Yeap, you gotta love Spinors.
