The duo’s follow-up to the wonderfully-titled
Murdered By the Moore Brothers,
Aptos continues in the close harmony folk/pop tradition of the siblings’ prior work.
GREG and
THOM come off as a snarky
SIMON & GARFUNKEL here, and that’s not a bad thing. Wickedly funny lyrics slither through airy arrangements; tenderness meets cynicism over warm bath melodies. That’s not to say the Moores are all about subversion – the pair is quite capable of dropping the devastating wit and pinning their heart smack dab on their sleeves. It’s also more than possible to simply revel in the unrepentant prettiness of “Girl Right,” “Iraq” and “You, Me and Razor Dan” and not worry about what they’re actually saying. But why would you? Bonus:
Aptos is wrapped in graphics drawn by legendary storyboard/comics artist
WILLIAM STOUT.
