The Muster Point Project - Stuck in Transit (Francomedia)

1 May 2025

Looking for hidden meanings in popular songs is as old as the popular song itself. And while I’m sure there are often subtle messages woven through the lyrics of The Muster Point Project’s songs, this seems like one of the times when Kevin Franco and the gang are simply writing songs for fun. And what better reason is there to write songs anyway? “Stuck in Transit” might seem like it would make a good metaphor for many aspects of modern life; perhaps we should just take it at face value.

A perky indie-pop song based partly on the experiences of Canadian author, Geoff Moore’s regarding the exactitude and attitudes found on the Amsterdam transit system, partly a fictional encounter with a uniformed fantasy woman, it’s the story of a brief encounter, with a twist, and nothing more. In light of this, the song’s refrain, “You gotta get on to get off,” seems to have a less-than-innocent meaning.

Effortlessly groovesome, driven by funky bass lines, song-serving beats and slashes of pop guitar, this seems a slight departure from the more rock-and-roots-oriented nature of many of Muster Point main man, singer, and multi-instrumentalist, Kevin’s songs. But that just proves that, unlike many artists who seem to find a signature sound and stick to it, he isn’t afraid to wander the musical landscape in search of sonic fun.

And “Stuck in Transit” is nothing if not fun.
