The Revival Hour "Hold Back" b/w "Run Away" (Self Released)

Wow. Talk about a super group! The Revival Hour features DM Stith and John Mark Lapham(The Late Chord/The Earlies), with help from, among others, Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond), Christian Madden, (The Earlies), and with madcap genius Richard Swift mixing it all down. This amazing-looking slab o’vinyl features two songs of big production, soulful singing, and just all-around beautiful kisses of sound. The A-side, “Hold Back,” is a wonderfully doo-wop with a modern twist, with Stith sounding positively soulful. The flip-side, “Run Away,” is a more contemporary doo-wop rock number, again with wonderful vocalizing from Stith, and a big, gorgeous, warm arrangement. Is this a one-off? Is this a tantalizing tease of something greater? I hope it is the latter….
