You could even say that it is less a song and more a mantra, verses merge into choruses with the hypnotic and infectious lyrics merely variations on a theme. Yes, there is a middle eight that throws a curveball, comparatively wordy compared to the rest of the song, but by and large it is a fist in the air, singalong sonic battle cry to finally sorting your life out…in whatever way is relevant to you.
There is something punchy, propulsive, and very nostalgic about the drive of back beat, something psychedelic about the riffs, something that catches you and carries you along about the vocal delivery, something cosmic about the Hammond-washed middle-eight, something brilliant about the whole thing – a line drawn between the Kinks and The Jam, Elvis Costello and Squeeze. Rather good company to find yourself in, dontcha think?
