Brandon Capps: August 7, 2011

Here’s a selection of recently discovered and rediscovered music that has dominated the airspace between my ears as of late. Sourced through my time trolling the blogosphere, heeding recommendations of music pals, and sifting through my own collection. I’ve included links when possible so you can have a listen for yourself.

  1. Cut Off Your Hands – Hollow LP (Speak and Spell)

  2. Hoop Dreams – XCPR 7” (Captured Tracks)

Recent addition to the Captured Tracks roster, Hoop Dreams offer up a stellar debut single of catchy post-punk guitar frenzy, featuring ex-Wild Nothing member Jeff Haley. The two songs here, as well as the mystery track that surfaced on Youtube a few weeks ago, indicate promise for one hell of a full length (scheduled to be released by CT this fall).

  3. Veronica Falls – Veronica Falls LP (Slumberland)

  4. Horrid Red – Silent Party 7” EP (Soft Abuse)

  5. Martin Newell – Songs For A Fallow Land LP reissue (Fixed Identity)

  6. Tages – Contrast LP (Parlaphone)

  7. Throbbing Gristle – Adrenaline/Distant Dreams (Part Two) 7” (Industrial Records)

  8. I Break Horses – Hearts MP3 (Bella Union)

  9. Motion Sickness of Time Travel – Luminaries & Synastry LP (Digitalis)

  10. The Lines – Flood Bank CD (Acute)
