David Musto: October 3, 2010

  1. The BombTorch Songs (Jettison)

Most solid effort from Jeff Pezzati’s post-Naked Raygun band.

  2. Radio BirdmanRadios Appear (Sire)

Just the right amount of punk and surf, before the Ramones started covering the Beach Boys.

  3. Mission Of BurmaSignals, Calls, And Marches (Ace Of Hearts)

    Maybe the best EP ever.

  4. Ozzy OsbourneNo More Tears (Epic)

Best Ozzy album since Blizzard Of Ozz and last great Ozzy record period.

  5. Bad ReligionThe Dissent Of Man (Epitaph)

Not liking the first four tracks but it’s pretty darn good after that.

  6. Frank BlackTeenager Of The Year (4AD/Elektra)

Post-Pixies Black Francis started off pretty well and might have peaked here.

  7. Be Your Own PetGet Awkward (Universal/XL)

Second and final album from a band that didn’t get very much credit for being much better than they should have been.

  8. Jesca Hoop Kismet (Red Ink)

Lovely debut has since had a very good follow-up with Hunting My Dress.

  9. Black TambourineS/T (Slumberland)

Complete discography of the underrated influential shoegaze band.

  10. Elliott Smith New Moon (Kill Rock Stars)

It’s been kind of a tough week personally and, when that happens, I reach for Elliott Smith.
