A week of mostly bringin’ the noise.
Clockcleaner – The Hassler (Manic Ride)
The first release from these guys set up their blueprint of really heavy guitars and David Yow or Steve Albini-like screaming. This EP rips. No complaints here.
Clockcleaner – Nevermind (Reptilian/Fan Death)
Just picked up their first full-length that was released on vinyl for the first time 5 years after its original release by Fan Death.
The Jesus Lizard – Goat (Touch & Go)
Why just listen to someone that sounds like David Yow when you can have the real thing? This and Liar are my two faves by them as I have given up trying to determine which one I like better.
Allo Darlin’ – S/T (Fortuna Pop)
Breaking up the sheer loud with this band that is pure indie pop goodness.
Twin Crystals – S/T (Needs More Ram)
I’ve gushed about their label mates Boogie Monster for a little while but I would be remiss to ignore these synth punkers.
Mudhoney – Superfuzz Bigmuff [Expanded Edition] (Sub Pop)
Originally just a classic EP, Sub Pop added on comp tracks and singles to make this excellent collection of this under-appreciated band in its relative infancy.
Pavement – Slanted And Enchanted (Matador)
Classic LP that needs no real explanation.
Screaming Trees – Invisible Lantern (SST)
Definitely my favorite album of theirs on SST. Thus completes my return to the nineties.
Iggy & The Stooges – Raw Power (Columbia)
Found the CD in my car and haven’t taken it out of the player since.
Bass Drum Of Death – GB City (Fat Possum)
John Barrett has a bit of Jay Reatard fuzz and flair but may be better than Jay was at this age. Scary.
