The playlist this time around is a grab bag of styles that, at least at the start, jump abruptly one from the other: angular Australian indie rock with socially astute and astringent lyrics from Hideous Sun Demon, to blazing and heavy battle-tested French post-hardcore from Fléau, to gritty and propulsive post-punk from UK indie rock band Hadda Be, to hypnotic, yet vivid synthgaze from Tennis System, to resounding and foreboding Gothic darkwave from Hallows, to mesmerizingly flowing synthwave from UK/US supergroup Beachy Head (members of Slowdive, Flaming Lips, more – and the owner of Graveface Records), to pretty dream-pop reverie from Lunarette (members of NYC’s Gingerlys), to another dreamy, yet vibrant reverie from New Orleans outfit People Museum, to an uplifting elegy from retro Canadian singer-songwriter Joseph of Mercury, and finally to a heartfelt acoustic call from Lou Barlow as part of Dinosaur Jr..
