Top 10 June 26, 2011 – Random Week!
This week, no theme, just the cream!
Phil Collins – “In the air tonight” (45 played at 33 1/2 speed)
Saw one of my favorite underground experimental DJs in town, my buddy DJ Naval Avatar , who dropped this 45 at slow speed, blowing all of our minds at how heavy and head nodding it is, slowed down!
Skurge – “Cancerous Growth”
Coming out of the detritus of this dying city is a gnarly group of musicians dedicated to making an unholy noise to reflect the decay around them. Incorporating elements from Naked City , Primus , Backdoor , and the Contortions , Skurge is a squealing, sax, bass and drum suckerpunch to the ears.

Le Kraken – “Effluence”
Sludgy lo-fi post doom? Whatever, Le Kraken have a very heavy sublimely dark sound.

Les Guenilles – “Les balles plus longues que l’gun”
Lac St-Jean transplants to Montreal, Les Guenilles are some unbridled angry riffs, just total fucking raw power, the way heavy music was intended to be.
Ultra Ptérodactyle – “Des Gens”
Really been digging the badass garage sounds of Ultra Ptérodactyle which bring to mind a French Thee Headcoats type vibe.
