Sleepersound is a five-man collective, combining elements of Indie-rock, Jazz, and Krautrock, to a live mixed visual aesthetic weaving a real time soundtrack. Four members of the band share instrumental and vocal duties onstage, while a fifth projects visuals keyed to the performances. The band writes, rehearses and records in their own studio, live in the same room, to ensure every recording remains true to the song and to what the audience will see, feel and hear.
Dan Niedziejko:
This track is an exclusive pre-production live cut of an unreleased song called “Emissaries”. Our most recent record “Idle Voices”, which was recorded over the pandemic, really got our collective juices flowing. While this song is unreleased and destined for the next album proper, we feel like it’s been a track that has really earned a spot in our live setlist rotation. It just missed the cut for “Idle Voices” based on production timelines. It’s an unusual song for us because, frankly, everyone is playing just one instrument and not switching to synths and back and forth, which is a real departure for us. When we play this, it’s a lot of fun to channel all of our energy into just one instrument, one groove and feel this one coming off the stage and into the audience. Can we say a little more “stripped down” despite the shoegaze guitar hook at the end? The next record is coming together and it’s songs like this, with some variation on approach – at least for us – that is really getting us excited for the next chapter.
