Portland, Oregon-located instrumental duo Moon and Bike use acoustic and electric guitars to create lush, melodic, and immersive soundscapes at the core of their sound.
Since forming their first band in Portland, Turning Eleven, Boone and Michael have continued to write and play together while collaborating with other musicians in a variety of styles.
They have also scored music and done sound design for film, commercial, and other creative projects.
This pair recently teamed up with music producer and label owner Dylan Magierek from Badman Recording Co. (Lanterna, Mark Kozelek, STRFKR, My Morning Jacket) to remix two songs from their first album, 2020’s One. The two singles feature the addition of drums.
Big Takeover is pleased to host the premiere of one of the two remixed tracks, “Two of Us” (with drums).
The reflective song commences with gentle and glistening acoustic guitar strum and a sedately shuffling drum pace, but quickly unfurls with deep reverb electric guitar diffusion.
This balance between the earthy and the dreamy exemplifies Moon and Bike’s dual, yet symbiotic style and showcases Boone and Michael’s expressive guitar ‘voices.’
The duo comment, ““Two of Us” ended up being our favorite song on the album. We’ve always worked well together, but this song was a perfect blend of both of our contributions. The opening acoustic guitar chords and melodic statement was written by Boone, and then Michael worked his magic, filling in the rest of the song with a great bridge and all of the other textures. The final addition of drums really brought the whole song together, which ended up having a very unique, signature sound.”
Dylan Magierek has also been working with Boone and Michael on their next full-length album, which is planned for release in 2022.
