Don’t let this combo’s moniker mislead you: there are neither fifes nor sousaphones on So Much Imagine, the Swedish indie-pop duo’s third album, released yesterday in North America on U & L Records and in Europe on UNCrecords. What we do have here is an abundance of bright melodies and effervescent arrangements that might get you skipping across the goal line anyway. We are very pleased to present an exclusive stream of this delightful new album!
Unlike their 2008 debut Spark Large and its follow up, both of which were recorded by name producers like Adam Lasus (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!, Yo La Tengo) and Jari Haapalainen (The Bear Quartet), Marching Banders Jacob Lind and Erik Sunbring took a DIY approach for So Much Imagine, self-producing, playing nearly all the instruments and choosing Erik’s cousin, Henrik Sunbring, to mix it at his studio, Helter Skelter, in Stockholm.
“This album is as much ‘we’ as it gets,” says the duo. “It’s a really personal recording, showing the differences between the two of us as songwriters and how our opinions sometimes differ. The songs cover a broad spectrum of styles and emotions, and the lyrics are unfiltered versions of our private thoughts.”
