The Feeders return with their sophomore LP, Dark Days, due out Friday, July 24. Today, the Chicago trio shares its latest single, “Sara, You’re My Savior.”
Featuring Sam Vicari, John Perrin, and Alex Rackow, The Feeders recorded Dark Days during the winter with longtime friend and collaborator Joe Gac (Meat Wave, The Arrivals). Across 27 minutes, the album delivers a burst of frantic, anxious energy funneled through cranked Marshall amps. Rather than chasing grandeur, Dark Days thrives on immediacy, pairing sharp hooks, restless momentum, and blown-out guitars into a lean, no-frills statement.
Speaking on the track, singer Sam Vicari explains:
“I feel like anybody who hears this song might presume that I’m singing to or about a protagonist named Sara. That’s not exactly the case. I remember the words coming to me while I was taking walks around my neighborhood one weekend, starting with the ‘I’ve been creeping around’ part. I think I’m just singing about how I felt about myself at the time. But there really is no specific Sara that I’m singing to. I think I was just daydreaming about somebody to lift me out of my funk. But why the name Sara? Well, I have a friend named Sara who got married the same weekend I was writing the song. I also have a sister named Sara. I suppose I’ve got plenty of Sara’s around me.”
The Feeders will preview songs from Dark Days when they open for Colleen Green at Beat Kitchen in Chicago on July 16.
