Song premiere: "Book Of Love" by Haroula Rose

Haroula Rose
23 September 2015

We at The Big Takeover are long-time fans of Haroula Rose. In May 2011, BT head honcho Jack Rabid presented Rose’s live, in-studio performance on his “Rabid In The Kennel” Internet radio show; her music was played on at least a dozen episodes of “The Big Takeover Show” since 2010; and her So Easy EP was named by Jack as one of the top 10 singles & EPs of 2012.

The Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter, composer, and filmmaker is readying her second full length album, Here Blue River, for release in 2016 via Thirty Tigers. Prior to the album, Rose recorded several covers, including a bluegrass-inspired version of Loudon Wainwright III’s folk classic “Swimming Song,” which premiered on Popmatters over the summer; and this stately, reverberant cover of The Magnetic Fields’ “Book of Love”.

“When I first heard it I remember feeling like my heart had an intake of breath,” said Haroula about why chose the song. “It’s so beautiful and timeless and clever. It captures how complex love is, and how small we are.”

This is so nice. Have a listen.
