When last heard from, on a four-song debut EP last year, The Deltahorse was fronted by Australian singer-songwriter TJ Eckleberg, who, like the other band members, Berlin resident and founder Sash; and Bostonʼs Dana Colley, former saxophonist of Morphine, had never been present in a room with the other two. That geographical dispersion still holds true, even as Belfast/Ireland-based vocalist Vadim Zeberg has replaced Eckleberg at the mic for the band’s new single, “Easy Life.”
Unlike his predecessor, whose low Aussie croon invited (unwelcome?) comparisons to the late Michael Hutchence, Zeberg swings a slinky falsetto for most of this new track; it’s an appealing contrast to Colley’s swaggering bari sax. Check it out.
