Like kindred spirit Michael Ceveris, actor-rocker Jon Patrick Walker has long mixed his two loves. He played Bruce Springsteen in the Broadway rock musical High Fidelity, appeared in a workshop staging of Pete Townshend‘s rock opera The Boy Who Heard Music, portrayed John Lennon in Alarm Will Sound’s 1969, and most recently worked with David Byrne in a workshop production of Saint Joan.
Walker’s second album, People Going Somewhere, co-produced with Josh Kaufman (Josh Ritter, Craig Finn, Bob Wier), is steeped in ’60s rock and folk — Beatles, Paul Simon, The Who, Harry Nilsson, et cetera — but we can’t help hearing more than a bit of Mott The Hoople in the piano-driven pop-rocker “Oh Rosie.” Dig it:
People Going Somewhere comes out March 11.
