Following up from their single “Brutocracy,” the 8-piece, jam band ensemble The Dayz are making quite the splash with their newest release titled “Waves.” With soft, ambient strings and instances of processed “robot” vocals, “Waves” introduces a forward thinking approach to their music. When asked about the inspiration behind “Waves,” The Dayz front man Dax Callner describe their song as “inspired by gravitational waves and is in the spirit of classic ‘space’ oriented songs like “Under the Milky Way” and “Space Oddity.: It’s the most keyboard-heavy song we’ve ever done.”

Inspired by those such as Elvis Costello, David Bowie, and contemporary artists like Arcade Fire and Muse, The Dayz’ genre is described as “rock and all of the colors that designation includes.” Callner further explains that “the band is totally obsessed with the craft of songwriting. Every song we play is worked and beaten up until it surrenders. Our goal is to get under your skin, surprise you, make you feel something.”

The Dayz consists of Dax Callner as the lead vocalist, Alix Briard on the co-lead vocals, Richie Phillips playing saxophone, Aaron Green on bass, Terry Shook playing drums, Alroy Teves on lead guitar, David Kahler on guitar, and Michael Villarosa on the keys.

You can catch The Dayz performing August 25th at The Bowery Electric in New York City.
