“Brave New World” gives us the first taste of Pete International Airport’s 3rd album It Felt Like the End of the World, a rather optimistic and warm song despite the title of the record. This track speaks to the shared difficulties the world goes through in treacherous and uncertain times. However, it aims to prove hope that unification is possible, and that everything will be alright, just not the alright you’re used to.
This first single references the cyclical nature of life, that all dark times have a light at the end. In Holmström’s words, “the music came about right at the beginning of the pandemic, and my original intention was to release it quickly with just the repeated mantra (everything will be alright) because we all needed something positive.” The incredible artwork in the video was done by a student of Holmström’s, Mia Scarpetta, and the video was brought to life by animator Gregory Pezeshki.
Peter Holmström, the band’s founding member, cut his teeth in his storied career with The Dandy Warhols, of which he is also a founding member. His vast network of musicians have enabled him to collaborate with members of The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Dark Horses, Omniscuro, Sun Atoms, Guiding Light, Slowdive, Pang Attack, A Place To Bury Strangers, and Cheap Trick to create an incredible third effort in this solo project. The full album It Felt Like the End of the World will be available on all streaming platforms on June 30th through Little Cloud Records.
