William Cunningham and Sasha Moxon’s psych-pop love child, Caramel, triumphantly returns with their highly anticipated first single since their acclaimed 2019 debut album, Deluxe Edition. Accompanied by an enthralling new music video, this time, the duo has delved deep into the realms of psych-pop, artfully combining elements of psychedelic rock and jazz with a touch of folk. The new release is premiering today (21st June ’23), exclusively on The Big Takeover.
The video was created with AI and utilises video interpretation of live performance. Taking inspiration from the visionary works of artists like Hieronymus Bosch and Klaus Voorman, the video immerses viewers in an ever-modulating dream-like landscape. It weaves together captivating visual cues that seamlessly synchronise with the music, resulting in a mesmerising audiovisual experience.
Caramel’s latest single draws influence from the rich soundscape of 70s library records and the introspective melodies of 60s folk. Through poetic lyrics, the song explores the complexities of unwanted entanglement and conveys a profound sense of nostalgia and yearning for simpler times.
As the duo works diligently on finalising their second album, fans can look forward to a series of live shows later this year. Be sure to stay tuned for more single releases, as each one promises to be a compelling chapter in their musical journey.
