Although Michael Ciravolo’s Beauty in Chaos operates as a sort of ever-welcoming, ever-evolving, revolving door for collaborations with the great and good of the rock and alternative world, this is the fourth time we have found Wayne Hussey fronting one of their songs. Obviously, its a good meeting of musical minds.
Although Hussey admits that he struggled to find the perfect finished form for the song, going months before finding the right words to match the music, Ciravolo feels it is the best song they have written together. If there were any difficulties bringing this song to fruition, there is no trace of them to be found in this finished and finessed final piece.
Sitting in that polished, and slightly understated place that was a hallmark of The Mission’s Carved in Sand era, or perhaps The Cure at the height of their alt-pop poise, it is a love song, more than that, a song of dedication and total devotion, that Wayne Hussey is so excellent at.
With his wife, Cinthya, adding additional layers of vocal ethereality, Ciravolo’s exquisite guitars and Tim Palmer back on mixing duties, “Diving For Pearls” makes for a lush and illustrious addition to the Beauty In Chaos musical canon.
