Days don't Wait - Technicolor (38 Too L8)

10 September 2025

It’s a familiar story. Like many musicians, the artist who goes by the name of “Days don’t Wait” started off playing in local bands. And like many musicians, he found that such an outlet was limiting the scope and vision of the music he wanted to create. Like many artists, he then chose a solo route.

And I’m glad he did, because it has given us songs like “Technicolor,” his latest single. It’s a track infused with plenty of ’90s vibes, Britpop moves, and by extension, Beatles-esque grooves. And I don’t mean to imply that this is music stuck in time; even if it were, with the return of bands such as Oasis and Radiohead to the public eye, the timing is impeccable.

No, there is nothing overly nostalgic going on here; there is as much to be found here that is forward-thinking as there is tipping its hat to past inspirations. A killer guitar riff, a grunge-infused grinding rhythm, and garage-rock six-string growl, the perfect blend of pace and poise, accessibility and artistry, opting to go for the slow release rather than the quick hit, and a sort of sleazy, swaggering, strut that sums up Britpop perfectly.

A great song, but who’d have thought that you would find the modern proponent of such an archetypically British sound tucked away in Palma, Mallorca?
