Ellen Allien - LISm (BPitch Control)

Veteran electronica artist Ellen Allien has been making exciting, unique music and art for the past decade an a half. LISm is merely a new addition to her list of accomplishments. Not an album proper, this 40+ minute track served as the soundtrack for a Parisian dance troupe who had commissioned her to score their performance. Though it is a one-track album, LISm is not a singular song. Instead, there are peaks and valleys; a moment of drone and ambience here slowly gives way to a sad folk number, which gives way to gentle ambience, which gives way to alien noises, which gives way to tasteful, sensual, rhythmic beats, and so forth. LISm is a sonic collage from a masterful experimental artist.
