Our George is a bit of a softy at heart. I mean that in the very best of ways: he has a sentimental streak, a romantic nature, and not only is he happy to let people see that side of him, but he also writes songs based on such feelings and sends them out into the world. He is clearly someone happy to show his emotions and doesn’t have a problem showing vulnerability, as all good artists and poets must.
“My Tomorrow is Already Missing You Today,” which is a great title, sees him expressing something that all fathers feel: the fleet-footed passing of the years, the blink of an eye growing up of their children, and even if that time has not yet come, the understanding that one day, soon, and sooner than you realize, they will be off making their own life. And while that is just part of the circle of life, it doesn’t make it any easier to deal with.
So, as he sits on the edge of anticipation, he weaves a gorgeous ballad for fathers everywhere, reflecting on their relationship with their offspring, over deftly picked guitars, gentle beats, and swooning strings. There are ups and downs, but in hindsight, the ups are what always stay with us.
