Hallucinophonics - Born on a Train (self-released)

1 December 2025

As the band name suggests, “Born on a Train” is not a theme meant to be taken literally. It is a metaphor for the perpetual motion of existence, of someone moving through life but somehow apart, separate, alienated from the blur of beautiful vistas passing by outside and out of reach.

And if lyrically Hallucinophonics talk in the language of poetic abstraction and metaphor, obscurity and slight, intentional obfuscation, sonically too that feeling of otherness, that sense of being apart, on the outside, of discord and disconnection is palpable in the music. Proof that the most potent themes don’t necessarily have to be all about volume and velocity, for the most part, this is a song built merely on deft, finger-picked acoustic cascades and an occasional, drifting flute motif.

Dynamic ebb and flow shape the song to a degree, occasional punch and power underlining the song to push the point home, but for the most part, this is a sonic meditation, delicate, melancholic, and deep. Deep enough to explore the very nature of what it is to be human, and of the gapping chasm that often lies between society and the lost.

Atmospheric and spacious yet sonically poignant, fans of Pink Floyd or Porcupine Tree will find much to love in this cinematic soundtrack to a film yet to be made.
