Marc Delgado - Stuck on the Radio (VFIB)

11 July 2025

When you see the name VFIB, you know that you are in for something special, this label being the home to the likes of Todd Adelman, Two Dark Birds and Bicentennial Drug Lord, a place where standards are high, adventurousness to the fore and quality songwriting the whole point.

Marc Delgado’s is more than just a musician; his solo shows merge at a point where folk music and stand-up comedy, poetry, and anecdote collide, something which is only possible if you have lived the life you sing about. In short, Marc is the real deal —a born entertainer who exudes authentic charm.

“Stuck on the Radio” is just one example of his charming creativity, one sonic layer of this fascinating and multi-faceted troubadour. It’s a gently chiming folk song, slowly evolving into a shimmering and sophisticated rock landscape through incremental and effortless transformation, with the addition of new guitar textures, the rising swell of a distant Hammond organ, and a driving groove.

Sitting somewhere between understated rock, expanded roots music, and poised Americana, this is musing on that Groundhog Day rut we all fall into from time to time. Inspired by a recurring dream, the message is that change is your choice; only you can get yourself out of this endless groove. Using the repetitive radio DJ patter and the same old song rotation as a metaphor for those times in life when you find yourself trapped by mundanity and a lack of momentum.

And the reason that the song resonates is because you believe every word he says. As I said, this is music inspired by a life lived, and a song that is as real and relatable as anything you’ve heard in a long time.
