Patti Zlaket - Dance Again (Meridian/ECR Music Group)

15 June 2026

None other than F. Scott Fitzgerald himself famously said “There are no second acts in American lives,” perhaps thinking of his own peaked too early success. But even if there is some truth to that thought, it doesn’t apply to Patti Zlaket, whose aptly named Dance Again, her first new album in two decades, has seen the planets align, so that she finds herself unexpectedly thrust into a very public gaze.

And what an album it is, a collection of chart-friendly songs that blend pop accessibility with… well, all manner of cool sounds. “Clock Keeps Ticking” is pop-soul running on rock and roll energy, a great way to kick things off, the title track is a poignant piano ballad that you feel Whitney would have killed to have been given, soulful and seductive, serene and lyrically working on several levels and “Love is For You,” the song that instigated this, not just return but elevation to the even brighter lights, is again, a cool rock and soul blend.

“This Is Me” rounds the album off, a self-celebration of who she is and who she has become, a simple and elegant song (in that complex and compelling way that simple songs always are), a perfect and perfectly gorgeous way to play out.

“There is no deadline on dreams,” she explains. “If you want something, go for it. I’m living proof.”

Exactly.
