T Staggs - Southern Soul Era, Vol 2 (Self-Released)

5 June 2026

T Staggs approaches Southern Soul Era, Vol 2 with a clear sense of purpose, delivering a collection of songs rooted in faith, love, and perseverance. Across eight tracks, the Spartanburg singer blends Southern soul, R&B, gospel, and touches of hip-hop into a collection that is grounded in lived experience over trends. The record opens with “Fight For You,” a warm, slow-burning declaration of devotion that immediately establishes the album’s emotional center. Staggs isn’t interested in clever detours or lyrical gymnastics; his strength is direct communication, and that approach serves him well throughout the project. Songs like “Hey Hater” channel the church-rooted perspective that has clearly shaped his artistic identity, responding to negativity with grace rather than retaliation.

Elsewhere, “Step With Me” shifts the mood toward romance, while “That Feeling” injects a burst of energy that recalls the exuberant spirit of classic soul revues. Even when the production leans into familiar territory, Staggs’ enthusiasm keeps the material engaging. Tracks such as “Miss Those Days” and “Still Here” further highlight themes of perseverance, gratitude, and self-reflection that run throughout the album. Staggs isn’t attempting to reinvent soul music; he’s drawing from its traditions to tell stories about love, faith, resilience, and personal growth. In an era often dominated by irony and detachment, that kind of straightforward optimism is deeply refreshing.
