Live for today! That is the message here. And whilst it is not exactly a new sentiment, as the world moves forward, we are increasingly locked into a mindset where we find ourselves doing the exact opposite. In the modern world, we spend so much time worrying about timing – do I have enough money yet, the right car, the right house, the perfect partner – that we seem to avoid those impulsive leaps of faith that make life worth living in the first place. And I should know I’m worse than most – being spontaneous is something I spend a lot of time planning.
Blending digital deliciousness with smart analog instrumentation, “Get There Before Noon (LA Mix)” is a clever piece, moving between worlds – from electronic experimentation to heavy psychedelia, synthy sonics to swirling alt-rock – worlds that usually don’t have much interaction, but which thanks to the genre-hopping, sonically liberated minds of today’s music makers, are free to mix and merge as they see fit.
During the course of the song, we learn a lot of essential truths. Genres are irrelevant. Rules are there to be broken. Opposites do attract. And music is anything you want it to be. But most importantly, live in the moment, especially as those moments available to you get fewer and fewer.
