Just in time for Mother’s Day, I’ve got a fresh batch of female-powered music – mainly indie/garage rock with a touch of singer-songwriter/dream-rock at the very end.

1. Ramonda Hammer – “Hoax”
Passionate Los Angeles punk/rock quartet are set to unleash their debut album, I Never Wanted Company, on June 14th via New Professor Music.

2. Mannequin Pussy – “Drunk II”
The Philadelphia-based indie punk group on Epitaph Records will drop their new album, Patience, on June 21st.

3. Rat Fancy – “Making Trouble”
In HHBTM Records’ stable, the L.A.-located pop-punk act are set to release their debut album, Stay Cool. on June 7th.

4. THICK – “Green Eyes”
Self-described “girlwave” DIY punk/indie rock band from Brooklyn, THICK deliver another tuneful rocker from their 3rd EP and first for Epitaph Records.

5. Jeanines – “Either Way”
On Slumberland Records’ roster, this Brooklyn-based indie rock band is gaining notice these days and will release their debut self-titled album on June 14th. From the press release: “[Jeanines] specialize in ultra-short bursts of energetic but melancholy minor-key pop.”

6. Fanclub – “Uppercut”
This Austin, TX indie rock/dream-pop band unveiled their debut EP, All The Same, this past January, but this track is not on the EP.

7. Frieda’s Roses – “Forever Defend Her Story”
A lyrically direct statement against misogynistic/rape culture wrapped in bittersweet melodics from a fresh teenage trio under the tutelage of the renowned Azalia Snail and her musical partner Dan West.

8. SOAK – “Maybe”
Irish singer-songwriter phenom who deserves much more attention, SOAK externalizes her private feelings, laying bare her inner questioning, pain, and longing. But she does so with a vocally and emotionally delicacy and nuance that’s beautiful to listen to. New album Grim Town is out now via Rough Trade Records.

9. Blushing – “Dream Merchants”
The Austin, TX shoegaze/dream-rock four-piece do it again on this swirling, restless number. The band’s debut album is anticipated for a summer release.
