Portland-based shoegaze band Kallai is excited to announce the release of their self-titled debut EP on June 21, 2024. Featuring their singles “Always/Never” and “Palisades” the EP explores topics ranging from one’s contributions to the failure of past relationships to the difficulties of embracing new opportunity after surviving trauma. With introspective lyrics combined with a driving mix of shoegaze, post-punk, and alt-rock influences, the EP resonates with emotion and honesty.

LA-based collective Beauty In Chaos presents ‘Diving For Pearls’, featuring The Mission main-man Wayne Hussey and Cinthya Hussey, his wife and partner in Archeometre.

Accompanied by an alluring overlapping-reality video, this is the first offering from the forthcoming record by the revolving evolving sonic entity that is Beauty In Chaos, formed in 2018 by guitarist Michael Ciravolo. Entitled ‘Dancing With Angels’, the full-length album is set for world-wide release on July 24. As BIC’s curator, Ciravolo describes the new track as “a torrid earworm of a song with lots of swirling layers”.

The Ultra Violets, an indie pop/rock quintet from Cornwall, feature Perran Nicholls (vocals, guitar), Marc Willoughby (lead guitar, vocals), Adam Knucky (bass), Stuart Morrall (keys, vocals), and Tyler Harris (drums). Formed in 2020, the band debuted with “ROMANCE” in April 2021, amassing thousands of streams and gaining airplay on Radio X and Amazing Radio. Their follow-up singles, “WATERGATE BAY,” & “SEX,” continued their ascent with “the latter being described by Illustrate Magazine as a “riveting rock anthem”.

In a Munich record store in 2018, John Beckmann, frontman for the Mortal Prophets, unearthed a mysterious acetate record bearing the name “Meine Liebe.” It had no artist, no musician’s name, only the haunting strains of German opera mingled with European electronica and new-wave echoes. Entranced by its wild and untamed beauty, Beckmann guessed it hailed from 1977. Yet despite his search, reaching out to historians of German Electronica, the creators of “Meine Liebe” remained shrouded in shadows. The enigma of the record sparked a fire in Beckmann. He vowed to revive and reimagine this lost musical artifact. He brought his discovery to David Sisko, a producer in New York City, and the project seized Sisko’s imagination too. Together, they journeyed to resurrect “Meine Liebe,” crafting a bold new EP.

Beebee and the Bluebirds was founded by singer and guitarist Brynhildur Oddsdóttir in 2010 and they have been very active in the Icelandic music scene since. They have played various festivals, f.ex. We (GOLEM DANCE CULT) just released our video for “Feels Like Tuesday (Deja Vu)”. The song, which is from the album Legend of the Bleeding Heart (released exactly a year ago). has been described as “best example of the slight genre-bending the band does whilst also highlighting their surprising knack for emotionally adept lyrics” (Music is to Blame) or “the duo hit pop paydirt” (RPM Online) and feature a cello, a first for the band.
To follow on with “first”, for this video we collaborated with “start and stop animation” Melbourne artist “ithinkimightbeclay”. The result, directed by Klaus Karloff, is our own ghostly, Hammer movie vibe take on “Groundhog Day”.

Cadence To The Flame is the sophomore release from Minnesota-based folk musician Nolen Sellwood. He describes his recording process as a “clumsy elegance” as everything was stripped to its bare elements and recorded raw, live, and without usual recording techniques, producing an album that captured the essence of what it is to live in Nolen’s world. Nolen has grown musically since his debut album, Otherwise by learning to play new instruments and exploring musical directions in college.
